Value Investing

I've been reading a book that is somewhat related to value investing. Now, I had pretty much decided in the past that I was not cut out for value investing. The need for patience is critical to success and I tend to give up right before it pays off. However, I greatly admire anyone who can succeed at it.  It got me to thinking about whether I could come up with some kind of mental kludge that would help me do better with that style of investing. I might have more to say about this in the future.

Downtrend?

We're almost halfway through April and the market is still in correction. A couple of market timer websites that I follow have decided that we are in a downtrend and have issued sell signals. They also did that in 2016 and it didn't turn out so well for them. Is this another false alarm? Time will tell. I am standing pat, for now. In the mean time, I keep telling myself that we need volatility. Volatility and risk are, in a sense, what create the opportunity. Update 4/20: The leading indicators are looking good for this month. Only party poopers are the reduced money supply and rising oil prices. But oil prices (inflation) might be enough to keep markets going sideways for a while.
